Axar Patel to replace injured Ravindra Jadeja for remainder of Australia Tests

Axar Patel will join the Indian team before the start of the third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has replaced the injured left-arm spinner, Ravindra Jadeja, with Gujarat's Axar Patel in the Indian squad for the remainder of the Test series against Australia. Jadeja, who picked up a shoulder injury while training, wasn't part of either the Adelaide or the Brisbane Tests. He will now return to India to undergo treatment.
Axar became the second injury replacement on the tour. Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who picked up a ankle injury, was replaced by Dhawal Kulkarni.
"Axar Patel will join the Indian team in Australia for the remainder of the Test Series as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, who has a shoulder injury and will be returning to India to undergo a rehabilitation program," BCCI secretary, Sanjay Patel, said.
Having made his ODI debut early this year, Axar has been in wicket-taking form during the current Ranji season. A part of the Gujarat Ranji team, Patel has taken four wickets in the ongoing third round of Ranji matches against Saurashtra.
A left-handed all-rounder himself, Axar came up with a fine performance in the recently-concluded ODI series against Sri Lanka. He finished the series as the highest wicket-taker with 11 scalps.
