Here is the list of players who have been released and transferred by teams for the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League.
Players released by teams before the December 15-deadline:
Royal Challengers Bangalore
In a major move, RCB have released all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh, into the auctions pool for the 2015 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). It was earlier reported that captain Virat Kohli wanted Yuvraj retained in the side, but his request has been turned down by the RCB management. Yuvraj, who was bought for Rs. 14 Crore, was the highest bid player at the 2014 auctions.
This means that RCB now have an additional sum of Rs. 14 Crore in their purse for the auctions taking place early next year. It is also expected that RCB will be keen to buy back Yuvraj at the auctions for a lesser price.
Barring a very few games, Yuvraj did not justify his price tag last year.
Kings XI Punjab
Cheteshwar Pujara, Lakshmipathy Balaji and Murali Kartik have all been released by KXIP. By releasing these players, KXIP now have an additional sum of Rs. 4.7 crore in their purse.
While Pujara failed to score at a brisk pace, Balaji was inconsistent with his performances during IPL-7. Murali Kartik, who was bought only on the second day of the 2014 auctions, struggled to make it to the playing XI and got just two games in the entire season.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians have let go of Michael Hussey and late-replacement, Praveen Kumar into the auctions pool for the 2015 edition of IPL.
Surprisingly, Mr. Cricket didn't have the same impact he had with Chennai Super Kings and often lost his place to Lendl Simmons in the playing XI.
Delhi Daredevils
Kevin Pietersen, Ross Taylor, Dinesh Karthik and Murali Vijay have been released by Delhi Daredevils, who now have an extra Rs. 28.5 crore to spend. According to reports, Delhi have let go of a total of 13 players from their side.
Pietersen missed the entire season last year due to injury, while Taylor couldn't get every game. Vijay managed to score just one fifty, while Karthik wasn't consistent with the bat throughout the season.
Players transferred:
  • RCB have roped in Manvider Bisla from Kolkata Knight Riders and Iqbal Abdulla from Rajasthan Royals.
  • Mumbai Indians have signed Vinay Kumar from Kolkata Knight Riders, Unmukt Chand and Parthiv Patel from Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively.
