Ranji Trophy, Round 3, Day 3: Unmukt Chand scores scintillating hundred for Delhi

Chand was in fine form for Delhi. 
After finding themselves in a precarious position, Mumbai came back strongly on the back of fine knocks by Shradul Thakur and Shreyas Iyer to gain the vital first innings lead. On the other hand, Delhi were clearly in the ascendancy against Rajasthan. Unmukt Chand was the star performer for them with a hundred.
Group A
After Parvez Rasool and medium-pacer, Ram Dayal, struck fine centuries to guide J&K to a first innings score of 497, Wakaskar held Baroda's innings together with a tenacious hundred. At stumps, they had progressed to 370 for 7.
Brief Scores: Jammu and Kashmir 497 (Parvez Rasool 136, Ram Dayal 124*, Swapnil Singh 6/152) lead Baroda 370/7 (Wakaskar 172, Beigh 2/66) by 127 runs.
Abhimanyu Mithun and Sreenath Aravind shared seven wickets between them to skittle out Railways for a mere 171. At stumps, the defending champions were in control of the proceedings, as they led by 207 runs with still nine wickets in hand.

After Ankit Sharma took a five-for to help Madhya Pradesh enforce the follow-on, Tamil Nadu showed some spirit and spunk to end Day 3 at 152 for 3. The hosts though, still have a long way to go to save the Test match.
Brief Scores: Madhya Pradesh 432 (Jalaj Saxena 144, Bundela 104, M Rangarajan 7/135) lead Tamil Nadu 248 (Ramaswamy Prasanna 78, Ankit Sharma 5/103) and 152/3 (Abhinav Mukund 48*, Ankit Sharma 2/73) by 37 runs.
After heavyweights, Mumbai, found themselves in a spot of bother at lunch on Day 3, Iyer and Thakur, essayed fifties to take them out of troubled waters. At stumps, they led Uttar Pradesh by 57 runs.

Group B
On the back of Unmukt's dazzling innings of 146, Delhi declared at 380 for 6. In their second innings, Rajasthan had lost two wickets and were struggling at 78 for 2 at stumps.

Aarpit Vasavada and Sheldon Jackson notched up important knocks to put Saurashtra in front in their game against Gujarat. In fact, Jackson went on to compile a hundred.
Brief Scores: Gujarat 248 (Smit Patel 105, Priyank Panchal 38, D Jadeja 5/74) trail Saurashtra 207 (Sheldon Jackson 48, Akshar Patel 4/72) and 280/3 (Sheldon Jackson 124*, Akshar Patel 2/69) by 239 runs.
In what turned out to be a keenly contested game between Vidarbha and Haryana, the visitors came back after being bundled out for 154 to clean up the opposition ranks, Haryana, for just 156. The final day's play should turn out to be interesting.

On the back of Kedar Jadhav's hundred, Maharashtra were able to recover after Punjab got the vital first innings lead. At stumps, they were 259 for 3. Earlier, Yuvraj Singh, had essayed a stroke-filled hundred to take Punjab to 391.

Group C
On a day when bad weather conditions played spoilsport for most of the first session, Yashpal Sharma and Rajat Pailwal stitched a key partnership to give Services the slight edge over Andhra.
Brief Scores: Andhra 254 (AG Pradeep 59, R Raj 4/77, D Punia 4/60) lead Services 218/4 (Rajat Paliwal 72*, Vijaykumar 2/64) by 36 runs.
Ankit Kalsi's fine hundred gave Himachal Pradesh a slender lead of 20 runs over Goa. For Goa, Gauresh Gawas took three key wickets to keep the hosts in the game. At stumps, HP were 377 for 9.

Sachin Baby, the captain of Kerala, composed a superb double ton to put Kerala on top against Hyderabad. He became only the second captain from Kerala to notch up a double-hundred. At stumps on Day 3, Kerala had declared after scoring 447 for 7, with Hyderabad on 4 for no loss.

Tripura continued to be on top in their game against Jharkhand. At the end of Day 3, they led by 93 runs, with the opposition only having five wickets left in the hut in the second innings.
