Yuvraj Singh and Dinesh Karthik released by RCB and Delhi Daredevils respectively

Yuvraj Singh, who was RCB's highest-paid player for the 2014 edition, was released by his franchise.
In a major development, two of the highest paid players in Indian Premier League (IPL), Yuvraj Singh and Dinesh Karthik, have been released by their respective franchises ahead of the auction for the 2015 edition, according to reports.
Yuvraj, who was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB), cost the franchise Rs 14 crores while Delhi Daredevils spent 12.5 crores to get hold of Karthik.
Further reports stated that as many as 13 players, including Kevin Pietersen, Murali Vijay and Ross Taylor, have been released by Delhi Daredevils. Mohammed Shami and Quinton de Kock have been retained.
Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) havedecided to release Cheteshwar Pujara, L Balaji and Murali Kartik, who all had a poor 2014 season.
Having released these players, franchises will have a sizeable sum available in their purse, which they can spend in the auction, early next year. The released players will go into the auction pool again.
Monday, 15th December 2014, was the last date for franchises to provide the IPL Governing Council with the list of players they want released.
