David Warner sidelined with forearm injury

Warner has a forearm bruise now in addition to his thumb injury
David Warner was struck on his right forearm in the nets during the third Test between Australia and India in Melbourne. The opener did not take the field when India were batting on the second day. A Cricket Australia spokesperson confirmed that his ability to field was hampered due to 'significant bruising.'
Warner is already carrying a thumb injury after he was struck during the Brisbane Test. That injury had restricted his fielding position to mid on or mid off instead of his usual position at gully. Warner has not played a big part in the Boxing Day Test so far. He was out for a 6-ball duck and the forearm injury, although not serious enough to warrant scans as yet, is bound to hamper his performance.
Warner's injury comes as a big blow for Australia, who are already reeling under injuries to all-rounder Mitchell Marsh and Michael Clarke. Both of them have been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series and if Warner is forced to miss the New Year's Test at Sydney, then it will come as a huge dent to their arsenal. Peter Siddle fielded in place of Warner on the second day and it remains to be seen if the latter will come out on day three.
